Istanbul New Year Party Show in Tashan Arkat Restaurant & Night Club
The Name of Pleasure in the 800 Years Cistern A Magical Night in the Treasuries of History.
Tashan Arkat was constructed by Mustafa the 3rd in 1763 to accommodate the guests and was associated through a big yard with a cistern named Sipahi Han used during Byzantines Period to supply water. After that period, it was named “Katircilar Han” and “Kurucesme Han” and in Republican Period, it was then named “Tashan”. Byzantine cistern, during construction of the public house and TASHAN used in Ottoman period as caravansary and nowadays as a trade center and a night bazaar, water were drained and they were used as crib and shop, in Republican period as a warehouse and it reflects either Ottoman and Byzantine architectures. This characteristic belongs only to Tashan Arkat in Istanbul. During Ottoman Period, Tashan used for a while as a military barrack of the janissaries and also it is the place where the Janissaries’ insurrection broke out. In early 90s Tashan inclined to disappear but Tashan’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Kemal Ocak has restored it pursuant to its original with its personal efforts and under the surveillance of the Monumental Committee.
